The subjunctive mood

If only, oh if, oh that —
so I learned the Subjunctive mood:
If only the weather weren’t bad,
If only he had understood.

When I was younger I used to dream
of passion and real love…
If only I were with him!
But actually I can’t.

I should be the happiest woman,
which you have ever met,
but actually I couldn’t.
It seems to be very sad
